In a Lafayette Courier & Journal article on the best multi-sport athletes in 2015-16:
"Nai Carlisle, West Lafayette
In recent years, Carlisle has been ineligible for this list because he was solely a basketball player.
Man, if this kid would have played four years of football in high school, he might have smashed all kinds of records.
As it was, the San Jose State basketball recruit played just one season of high school football and was given a little bit more responsibility each game. Carlisle’s impact helped the Red Devils reach the Class 3A state championship game and I am pretty sure his 13.6 yards per carry may stand the test of time (He only had 17 carries).
On the basketball court, Carlisle was the veteran on a young team. He averaged 18.7 points, 5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.4 steals and graduated as West Lafayette’s career scoring leader.
