In an Event Center burner, it took an overtime before Colorado State nabbed an 85-84 victory over San Jose State University on Saturday. The Spartans enjoyed an eight-point lead at one point in the second half before the Rams tied it with a second remaining.
Princeton Onwas paced SJSU with 24 points (9-9 at the foul line), Ryan Welage tallied 16, Frank Rogers 12 and Gary Williams Jr. 10. One other numerical note: in 26 minutes, Brandon Clarke scored but four points but also posted a team best seven boards and five assists.
The Washington Square crew shot a very solid 47% overall, managed 18 assists on 29 baskets but had the whistle blow 27 times on foul calls.
